JOURNAL: Ch 2:9 Navigating Your Thoughts
OBJECTIVES: To explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences through art. To provide a safe space for self-expression and reflection. To develop coping skills and strategies for navigating through challenging emotions and experiences. To foster a sense of empowerment and agency in understanding and managing one's mental health.
DISCUSS: Brief discussion about the concept of the mind as an uncharted map. Explanation of how thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be represented through art.
PROJECT: "Name Map": Create a map using their name as a guide. Fill the map with symbols, images, or words that represent different aspects of yourself." What landscapes, pathways, or landmarks would you find? How do you navigate through your thoughts and emotions?
REFLECT: What did you discover about yourself through this activity? Were there any surprises or insights that emerged? How does your artwork reflect your inner landscape and navigation through your mind? What strategies or tools did you use to navigate through challenging areas of your map?
CLOSE: Gratitude circle or a mindfulness exercise. Share one word or phrase that captures your experience of the session. Information about upcoming sessions and resources for further exploration.
